SHERLOCK HOLMES Book Review Sherlock Holmes is a book written by Arthur Conan Doyle. It consists of four novels and 56 stories. All the stories are given in a narrative tone. The narrator of all stories is Dr. John H Watson. He used to be a doctor at the British Army Camp at Peshawar in Pakistan. Due to an injury caused by a bullet he was shifted back to Britain. He is accomplice and a friend of Mr. Sherlock Holmes. They both used to live together at Baker Street in a apartment. Sherlock Holmes is a detective, who helps the Scotland Yard in most of their cases. He also solves cases privetly. He doesn't have a greed for money or titles, rather he solves cases for his pleasure and he enjoys doing that. The main setting of the story in Baker Street, where they both lived. The stories revolve around Sherlock Holmes detective cases and findings. All the stories are given in the 1880’s timeline. The words in the stories are from the old english grammar. Sherlock Holmes is a very silent character. He doesn’t speak with anyone for more time. He keeps every things to himself. The author uses the exact words to express the scene and the feelings of the characters. The words create a visual image in the minds of the readers. It pushes the readers to read the story from the start to finish. It creates feelings of anxiety and excite the end of the story. Sherlock Holmes is an excellent mimicker. In the story he used to change his body from a young man to old lady frequently. I recommend this story to all who are interested in detective and original novels.
