Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered corona virus.COVID-19 affects different people in different ways.Most infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms.Fever,tiredness and dry cough are the common symptoms.Some people may experience aches and pains,nasal congestion,runny nose,sore throught and diarrhea.On average it takes 5-6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show,however it can take upto 14 days. The corona virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes.People could catch COVID-19 by touching contaminated surfaces or objects-and then touching their eyes,nose or mouth.Most people infected with the COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.Older people ,and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. To prevent the spread of COVID-19: • Clean your hands often using soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub. • Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing. • Don't touch your eyes,nose and mouth. • Cover the nose and mouth with your bented elbow or a tissue when we cough or sneeze. • Stay home if you feel unwell. • If you have a fever,a cough and difficult in breathing,seek medical attention.Call in advance. • Follow the direction of your local health authority. The COVID-19 is affecting 210 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances. Official names are announced for the virus responsible for COVID-19 (previously known as "2019 Novel Corona Virus") and the disease it causes. ICTV announces "Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2 (SARS-Cov2)" as the name of the new virus and WHO announced"COVID-19" as the name of this new disease on 11 February,2020.This name(SARS-Cov2) was chosen to the virus because the virus is genetically related to the Corona Virus responsible for the SARS out break of 2003.While related,two viruses are different.At this time,there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19.However,there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments.
