Knocks on the door broke the silence.The door was a large one coated with gold. The house was not more or less than a palace.The door opened."Who are you?"
"Isn't Mr.Watson's house?"
"Yeah."
"I want to see him. He knows me."
"Oh! What's your name?"
"He doesn't know me by name. Even though tell him a Bennett Martin had come to see him."
"Wait a minute."The servant went upstairs.
Bennet appeared to be a man of eighties and had grey hair.Still he was hale and hearty. He was dressed like a common man.
"Mr Martin, please...."
"Oh! Yeah."
"Go straight,take a left,then the 4th room."
Bennett felt like laughing,but just gave a gentle smile. He felt it absurd that a man,only one,owns more than a dozen rooms and has hired many servants to fill those.
He went as the servant said. David Wilton was bedridden.
"Good morning,Mr Wilton."
"Good morning. I can't recognise you Mr........."
"Martin, Bennett Martin"
"Oh,sorry, Mr Martin."
"I am from Vill Blace.Can't you still remember me?"
The work was progressing well. David felt the sound of felling of trees like an ode. David was on his late thirties. His father James Wilton had set up a business empire in Ken Lian three decades ago.Now David is extending his father's business.
"Hey, What are you doing?"
"Who are you to ask?"
"I am a native here."
"There is no need for me to answer your stupid questions. Still.....I am David Wilton, a real-estate businessman. The government has recognised this island as a tourist spot as it is full of trees,flowers and have a pleasant climate."
"So what? Why are you cutting down these much trees?"
"We got the contract of setting up hotels here. There will be a cash flow."
"It seems you are rich and highly educated. Why are you still expecting for money. Isn't greedy? And don't you know the pros and cons of destroying nature? Please stop it. We natives consider trees as our children. Nature is our emotion."
"I am rich. I have more than enough money. Cultivating money is not at all a greed. It's a talent. Then the pros and cons, there are a lot of hospitals. Health problems can be easily cured there and technologies are well advanced.Just leave, let me finish my work."
"I beg you son, please........"
"Philip! Get rid of this nasty old man."
He raised his head."You are the........."
"The same nasty old man. Didn't I warned you that day? But your greed never allowed you to leave the island green. I am in my eighties and am still capable to stand and what about you? I think you are on your fifties but can't even sit by yourself. What happened to your hospitals and advanced technologies? Nothing can replace the nature. As you make your bed, so you must lie on it. Good bye."
"I............"
Bennett walked away leaving David in great trepidation.
