Amputation – Hope Regained
With fragmented branches in the yard
A mango tree strived hard
With parasites consuming its sweat
A long time it bet the life to fit.
Cherished with mangoes once
Her branches now be barren.
The stocky leaves stymied the sun
Later battled to block his fiery rays.
Hoping to free from the hard knocks
Warrant passed to cut her life
Axe and ropes cursed themselves
As desperate fate once again slapped.
Drops of dew on the plants around
Glittered as beads of tears
Nodded their fork and leaves
Flowers shed the funeral tribute.
The chopper fastened rope
Tree bowed to be slain
Hoping to leave the space
For another fresh life to sprout.
Two little birdies off the leaves
Sprang around tweeting
For they hide usually their nest
Among the thickness blinding the hunter.
“Sir, Should we see a rue force out
For Birdie’s plead hire of a shoot”
As he pointed, leaves marked a nest
Two white eggs there awaited life.
My hire fail to effect, for I paid him.
Mind pricked to destroy a home of hope
I gave up a day’s planning and effort
To spring up the life a new.
Looking for the remedy
Amputation was suggested
The parasite part was detached
Bleeding the excruciating pain.Amputation – Hope Regained
As my son seen roving a day
Around the tree and eyes up
I put questions on his steps
‘A nest’ he answered ducking me.
With bare steps I peeped the leaves
Where I didn’t too long since the cut.
Green filled the arid space
Tender stems swayed forth.
Little bumps on the raceme swell
Bees swam over the bunch
Leaves are thick to lock the sun
And branches teem with robust tendrils.
Among the surging leaves
Hung a little nest of hopes
Craving with new expectations
Bedded with soft fillings.
Every morning tweeting filled the air
Fragrance packed the breeze
Scorching sun tamed cool
And life began smooth and afresh.
Amputation was painful but fruitful
It slit away the harm but retained health
It spread fresh life around as well
It is sometimes a hope to life.
After a few days from the branches
Four birdies sprang up
Life recalls once again
Hope stretches wings upto endless blue.
