THE LEADEN BOX       'Ha ! It's a golden chance ' said pulisca, a poor young man lived in the city of Astoria. At that time the king of Steria, conducted an event for her daughter's marriage. The man who completed the three tasks could marry his daughter. If they didn't complete three tasks would be killed.Therefore nobody was ready to accept the challenge. But the poor young man Pulisca was ready to accept the challenge.Then he set out Steria. Finally he reached Steria with his Bossom friend Gerff. The first problem they faced that there was no house to stay. Then finally they found a house at the top of the mountain. The next day, they went to the palace.It was a huge palace made with lime stones and beautiful wall paintings. In front of the palace there was big garden with lots of flowers. 'Hey, loafers get away from here! said one of the guard of the palace. But they still stand there as they drowsed on the wraith of the garden's sight. The guard walked towards Pulisca and Gerff, and asked "who are you ? Where are you come from? Suddenly they get awake from those sights.'We are Astordians, came here to participate choice marriage event.May I visit your king,if you give the consent to us'said Pulisca.‛Yes you may come in fellows !’ said the guard.When they entered inside the palace,they greeted with delicious foods and stayed one night in the palace as the sanction of the king.On the next day,the king arrived in the court and visited them.Pulisca saluted and stood before him with his head bowed.‛So you are the people came from Astordia,a great welcome to our court’ said the king some what impressed.Pulisca said ‛Oh! my lord,I became a blessed man at your first meet with me.’ Then king commanded to servants to prepare everything for the event.Then Pulisca and his friend strolled here and there in the city.On one side there is a grocery store and other side fruit shop,drapery shop etc.. like a chain.‛Hey you are those participants of that choice marriage event’ said a warefarer.‛Oh sure !’ said Gerff eating an apple.‛I think nobody was there to become my rival.So it is tough tasks to be completed.Eighther tasks should be completed or would be immolated by myself’ said Pulisca in a fearful voice.‛Why you scare ? become a confident man !’ said Gerff.On the next day, people from different cities came and the court became crowd.The daughter of the king decorated with beautiful dresses,bangles and necklace made with gold embedded with precious gems.Pulisca is at middle of the court in a fear.Infront of him,king and the daughter sitting in big thrones made with gold.On both sides of him,a council of ministers are there.‛Where is that sage ? call him !’ said king.Then the sage came.An old,beard man with bald head with cheerful face.He said ‛My lord,I prepared three tasks for this event .May your highness,can I show you ?’. ‛Why not ?’ the king said.‛Here is your first task ! ’ the sage said.At that time one of the servants gave him an arrow and bow.Then the servant kept five apples at a table far away from him.‛You should bow the arrow to the five apple.You will be given five arrows.If you miss any apple,you will lose’ said the sage to Pulisca.He took his time for bowing his arrows to the apple.Finally,he completes his first task.‛You completed your first task,but don't be excited,it will make you worry Here is the next task’ said the sage.One of the servants gave him a piece of paper and the sage said ‛You have to find the answer of this statement’ said the sage.On that paper “A red round house with no windows and a chimney on the top and a star at the middle,find it ?”.Pulisca thought for a long time and said ‛Apple,it is apple because it has no holes and it is round and it is red.And also a chimney like a thing on the top and a star at the middle.’‛Hey you won the second tasks’ said the sage.‛Here is the final task for you’ said the sage.The servants kept a golden box and a leaden box on that table.The sage said ‛You have to find the picture of the princess in these two boxes.You will be given one chance to open any of these boxes.’ Pulisca thought for a while ‛ Why they put a golden and a leaden box ? May be any proverb is hidden behind this task.Yes,that proverb told by my grandmother in my childhood “Nothing shines is gold.” He opened the leaden box.Here it is ! the picture. ‛Hey you won the task,you can marry the princess.’ The king become very happy,because every man came in each event but received only death.But now he foundAt that time king said to Pulisca ‛ I want to say one thing that my daughter is a dumb.That's why we conducted this event to find a courageous and wise man' Pulisca said ‛ No problem,my lord I will sacrifice for my princess’Then Pulisca and princess led a happy life.
