Dear all, It is an unusual tough time now. The whole globe is going through a very crucial health related devastating state – CoVID-19 pandemic outbreak. The world economy is getting weaker day by day. Now, lockdown seems to be the lone key to flatten the curve of disease spread nationwide, as no medicine or vaccine seem to be effectively targeting the SARS CoVID 2 virus, the organism responsible for CoVID -19 outbreak. There are debates on the origin of this virus. Some say its man-made while others don’t agree to it. Some nations are even considering chances of this being a bio weapon attack.

Whatever be it, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Among all these fears and confusions, staying positive and hopeful is fundamental to revive ourselves and our society from the clenches of this dreadful disease. We need to stay positive. Its easy said than done, right? How to stay positive in times of social distancing, and lockdown? We need to understand that this virus seeks no caste, religion, creed or culture. It afflicts all. Thus the feeling of humanity and social responsibility is to be evoked in minds of each and everyone of us. If its dark, we should keep in mind that lighting is essential and possible. But we must know where the switches to turn on the lights are, rather than pondering in the dark. Our government through its various departments are working round the clock to contain the spread. Doctors, Nurses, Paramedical staffs, Policemen, Sanitization workers etc are overtly engaged in immense work to fight CoVID 19. But is it their responsibility alone? What role could we play to give it to our nation?

We; as responsible citizens of the country, ought to follow government norms and instructions in matters such as social distancing. We as students, should pro-actively educate our immediate family members or neighbors regarding the importance of social distancing and hygiene. We may also positively identify, those needy individuals who stay near us, and help them in these dark times in whatever possible way we can. We may intimate our family members or policemen regarding any elderly person/ unhealthy individuals in our vicinity who is in shortage of his/her regular medicines or required groceries. We should also educate people on the importance of any physical or mental activity such as hobbies of gardening, reading etc in order to be at peace with the current depressing situation. Its important to be engaged in any positive activity to stay hopeful and healthy. Physical exercises also boosts immunity and mental wellbeing. Always positive news like recovery of individuals and the work rendered by our health professionals should be discussed and promoted among ourselves rather than any fake news or news on death and destruction.

In the current distressing scenario, what can we do for ourselves? In a testing period as this; it is the right time to analyze ourselves - Our thoughts, our actions, potentials and flaws. Good habits like reading rather than watching television or spending time in mobile phones and other gadgets may be positively reinforced. Good eating habits and workouts may be enabled. Helping our parents and grandparents in household works shall improve the family relations. Meditation and other related practices such as pranayama, yoga etc can be initiated. This shall improve immunity and mental toughness. We need to be hopeful about our nation’s future. In this tough times lets be there for one another in all possible way we can. Together we will. Together we shall overcome. Aaano bhadra krtavo yantu viswataha. Let noble thoughts come to us from all directions Jaihind.
