Diseases that held the world by its hand One of the major disasters that occurred during this decade is, of course, the CORONA VIRUS. But did you know that there were many more diseases than Corona that shook the world? Many of these diseases come under the category of FLU, CHOLERA and THE PLAGUE. Now I am going to tell about 10 major viruses. 6 ) The sixth cholera Pandemic. (1899-11923) One of the major diseases that happened during the 19th century. The 6th cholera pandemic which happened during 1899-1923 was a major outbreak of cholera beginning in INDIA where it killed more than 8,00,000 people and spreading to the middle-east, North Africa, Eastern Europe, and Russia. 5) THE THIRD CHOLERA PANDEMIC The diseases that come in the 9th place are “the third cholera pandemic” which originated in India which spread across continents-claimed over one million lives across the world. Of the epidemics, in the 19th century, THE THIRD CHOLERA had the highest facilities. 4) HONG LONG FLU The Flu of 1968 was a global outbreak of the influenza virus, which originate in the Asian continent. The pandemic was caused by the virus H3N2 subtype-suspected to have evolved from a previous influenza outbreak-in 1957. The virus killed one million people. 3) FLU (1889-1890) This version of the influenza virus was the H3N8 subtype, originating in the Russian empire and subsequently spreading across the Northern Hemisphere aided by the advent of modern transport infrastructure. The disease claimed one million lives. 2) ASIAN FLU (1957) The Asian flu was an avian influenza outbreak that spread in the late 1950s and later died out after a vaccine was introduced. At its height, the virus killed 2 million people. 1) THE BLACK DEATH The deadliest outbreak in recorded history, the Black Death killed over 200 million people, reshaping demographics across the world.
