LOCKDOWN - A BLESSING IN DISGUISE? The Corona virus is a global threat that has taken the world by storm with more than 3 million cases detected worldwide. The calamity which began in Wuhan, China has now triggered a health alarm which has eventually led to lockdown globally. The lockdown has impacted the world in both ways- The government’s sudden decision to enforce a lockdown gave a huge disadvantage to vulnerable populations in our country. The daily wage earners, rickshaw drivers, street venders all are suffering with unemployment and lack of wage during this crisis. When big businesses and monthly earners are able to survive, small businesses and freelancers are finding it hard to thrive. Sadly it has also affected the mental health of a lot of people. Many people are feeling a lack of motivation or purpose, even more many are seen to be having suicidal thoughts. Talking about all the chaos it has brought, it is important to take a look at the bright side as something terrible can be a blessing in disguise too. This lockdown has come as an alarm to the lives of a lot of people that are always running behind their dreams and goals…. It is a reminder that it is always important to take step back relax It has given us the time to reconnect with our families, friend, and ourselves too. It looks like even earth is enjoying this time off as us. If there is something positive during this terrible crisis is that the lockdown has caused an improvement in air quality. A study has revealed that the improvement in air quality over the past month has led to eleven thousand fewer deaths from pollution in UK. As humans are staying away the water from river Ganga has been classified as “Fit to drink after chlorination” for the first time in decades. A beautiful video of a humpback whale on the Mumbai coast was doing the rounds in twitter. It looks like as the entire word is in lockdown, animals are reclaiming their position in this world. This lockdown has definitely taken atoll on people globally. But it was a step that had to be taken in the midst of this calamity. It has brought an enormous boost to the world of OTT platforms, video games and online education. Despite a few blame games between countries, it is quit comforting to see the way the human population is rising to the challenge.
