HER WHISPER The knock at the door surprised me, I wondered, at this hour who it might be. I opened the door and stood puzzled, And there sat she, helpless and tired. I took her in and gave her drink, And then began she, her story from brink. Years ago, was a lovely one I, But as time flew, destroyed got I. Heavy words flowed faintly, slowly and harshly, As she sat with her eyelids droopy. The flowing river as silky as hair The mountain ranges as eyes that shone. The blazing sun as bright as gold. The tiny raindrops as precious as pebbles. And then she said the mankind, The mankind as greedy as it could be Burnt her, thrashed her and took her soul. I did not know even what to say As her sorrowful words took me away. I finally ask if she needed my help. She stood and smiled and whispered, Oh darling!
