Uniqueness of our School in terms of usage of Information Technology for gaining Academic excellence.

K.P.E.S. High School is situated in a village of Kozhikode district. Majority of the students come from the lower economic strata whose parents are farmers and farm workers with low income .It was a part of the I.T @ School program that the Computer lab was setup in our School in the year 2002 We have introduced EDUSAT network and VICTERS Channel in our School. We have already set up a multimedia room where students can attend virtual classes. The platform of I.T. Education completely shifted from Windows to non-proprietary software Linux. We have developed resource C.D for the studentsof 8 th, 9 th and 10 th by with the assistance of the subject experts. Every year we are conducting I.T. fair in our School to encourage I.T. initiatives among students and public.. We have well maintained web site created by students and teachers. The results of the examinations are posted in our web site. Blood group of the students who are willing to donate blood is also included in our web site. We update our site regularly. S.S.L.C. students of our School have attained a cent percent win in information technology for the 6 years.Well-trained 34 teachers of our school are ready to attend the I.T. needs of the school and villagers of Kayakkody. The school has been the overall champions in the district level I.T. Festival for the past 5 years .The School has got best I.T. project award during the year 2005-2006 and 2006-2007,2007-2008,2008-2009 at the State level I.T. festival. Teachers of the school also have been winning awards in multimedia presentation at the state and district level. The School has got Second with A grade in I.T. Project and third with A grade in Web designing at the state I.T. fest held at Techno Park Thiruvananthapuram. In the year 2008-2009.

2. In the state level I.T. fair the school had won Many times award in I.T. project, web page designing, Malayalam computing and Multimedia presentation
3. In the current academic year 2009-2010 the schoolot top scorer in the I.T. fair held at Technopark Tvm and selected as the Best I.T. school in the state
4. Rinsha K.T. of 10 standard student got second A grade in web page designing, Migdad Nassar 9 th standard student got second A grade in Malayalam computing. Nadifa K.P.of 10 the standard student got A grade in I.T.project. in the year 2009-2010
5. During the current academic year, 2009-2010 the computer lab of the school selected as the Best computer lab in the state.
Headmaster N.K.Asokan ,and students received certificate and a cash award of Rs.two and a half lakhs from Hon,ble Education Minister Sri M.A Baby at the grand function held at Thiruvanathapuram Technopark On January 20th, 2010. in connection with the I.T Mela
The Headmaster took effective measures for the promotion and effective functioning of the IT club with the help of the IT coordinator Sri. K.T. Kunhammed Master and K.P.suresh. The historic achievements in the field of IT prominently highlighted in the channels, newspapers, A.I.R and other media

The following are the efforts made by our School to popularize Computer literacy and free software among the Public

(1) With an aim to promote free software, students of our school started free software campaign among the public As the first step to the initiatives free software day was celebrated in the school on September 19.C D s of Linux were distributed free to the students on the day. Volunteers of the I.T club visited households of Kyakkody Panchayathu and installed free software on their computers .The school also conducted study classes and seminars to sensitize people about the legal and moral dimension of using pirated version of non proprietary software
(2) We conducted a blood group testing Camp in our School. Blood group of the students who are willing to donate blood are posted in our web site www.kpeshs.org for the benefit of the public. We also arranged I.T. fair in our School last five years. We have given video chatting and audio chatting facilities for the students and public during the Mela
(3) Local youth of our village are given permission to use Internet facilities of our School for knowing employment opportunities.
(4) Children of near by school are given chance to use our Computer lab during off hours
(5) Workshop on ‘Internet’ was organized in the school for creating I.T. awareness among the local community. Prof Raja Gopaln from National institute of technology took classes. Option registration for engineering and medicine are available in our Computer lab during off hours. Many of our old students have utilized these facilities.
